Is Julius Broken?

So… we’ve come to a conclusion. Julius may, in fact, be broken...

Now don’t worry he’s perfectly healthy. He’s just… Julius-ing again.

It started when we walked into the room the other day and found him hanging upside down from his perch, muttering to himself like a tiny feathery philosopher. Then he froze, puffed up his feathers, and started laughing. Not a cute little chirp-laugh an actual, human-style laugh he picked up from one of us.

We stood there watching him, trying not to laugh ourselves, which of course only encouraged him. So, then he started dancing. Upside down. Still laughing. After a few minutes of this, he stopped completely still, tilted his head, and just stared at us like we were the weird ones.

It’s not the first time we’ve caught Julius doing something that makes us question how much bird logic actually applies to him. Sometimes he talks to the wall. Sometimes he argues with his reflection. Once, he tried to feed a Cheerio to Abbi through the cage bars. (She accepted.)

So yeah, maybe Julius is a little broken. Or maybe he’s just operating on a higher frequency the rest of us can’t quite tune into. Either way, he keeps us laughing, guessing, and occasionally wondering if he’s planning something. And honestly, that’s just part of the fun.

Because in this house, “normal” is overrated and Julius wouldn’t have it any other way.
