Ms Stella and the Bath She Did Not Want

Some pups warm up to bath day.
Some learn to tolerate it.

And then… there’s Ms. Stella. Stella doesn’t dislike baths in a dramatic, over-the-top kind of way. There’s no wild thrashing, no full-blown escape attempts, no chaos. No… Stella hates baths in a much more refined way. With conviction.

From the moment she realized what was happening, it was over. The look said everything:
“This is unnecessary. This is offensive. And I will remember this.”

Getting her into the tub?
A slow, reluctant acceptance. The kind where she steps in like she’s filing a formal complaint with every paw placement. Once the water turned on, she didn’t panic. Didn’t fight. Didn’t even try to get out.

She just… stood there.

Completely still.
Utterly unimpressed.
Silently judging every decision that led us to this moment. You ever feel like someone is disappointed in you without saying a word?
Yeah… that was Stella. Every move I made got the same response:
a slight shift, a subtle lean away, and that
signature side-eye that could cut through steel.

Scrubbing her down was less of a task and more of a… tolerated inconvenience. She allowed it. Barely. Like, “I’m not stopping you… but I want it on record that I disagree.” Rinsing? Same story. No drama—just quiet resistance and emotional disapproval. Now here’s the part that makes Stella… Stella. There was no magical turning point.

No moment where she relaxed.
No “okay this isn’t so bad.”
No secret enjoyment hiding underneath it all.

She hated it at the start…
she hated it in the middle…
and she hated it right up until the very end. Consistent. Honest. Respectable, honestly.  But—and this is what matters—she trusted the process enough to let it happen. Even while fully disagreeing with it, she stood her ground (literally) and got through it. And when it was all said and done?

Clean. Fresh. Looking great.

Standing there like:
“We’re done. Don’t push your luck.”

No celebration. No excitement. Just dignity intact and a silent agreement that we will, in fact, be doing this again whether she likes it or not.
