Julius, the Philosopher of the Couch
This is a subtitle for your new post

If you’ve ever met an umbrella cockatoo, you know they’re full of personality — equal parts comedian, diva, and deep thinker. Julius, our feathery family member, has all three modes mastered. But lately, he’s been leaning into the philosopher side of life.
This afternoon, I found him in his favorite spot on the couch — perched right on the armrest like he owned the place (because, let’s be honest, he does). The sunlight was streaming through the window, catching every white feather just right, and there he was… completely still, eyes half-closed, lost in thought.
No squawking. No demands for head scratches. No dramatic outbursts. Just pure, peaceful Julius.
Every once in a while, he’d tilt his head ever so slightly, like he was pondering something deep — maybe reflecting on the mysteries of life, or maybe just wondering why humans make coffee when they could be taking naps. Either way, he looked completely at peace. It’s funny, really. For a bird who usually fills the house with chatter and chaos, these quiet moments remind us that even the loudest personalities need a little calm now and then. Maybe he was soaking in the warmth. Maybe he was enjoying the view. Or maybe, just maybe, he was remembering all the extra treats he didn’t get today and plotting his comeback. After a while, he let out a long, soft chirp — almost like a sigh — and fluffed up his feathers before tucking one foot up and closing his eyes completely. A perfect little picture of contentment.
Around here, it’s easy to forget how much joy there is in simple things: a soft couch, a warm patch of sunlight, and a bird who’s found his peace (at least until dinner time). Julius might not say much in these moments, but his silence speaks volumes.
