Every family has that one sibling who occasionally looks at the bigger one and thinks, Yeah, I can take her.

In our house, that sibling is Stella.

Her opponent? Abbi.

Now, anyone looking at the two of them can immediately identify a slight flaw in Stella’s plan. Abbi is a German Shepherd. Stella is… Stella.

This information does not appear to have reached Stella.

Every once in a while, she decides it’s time to challenge her much larger sister. Suddenly the little dog who could probably fit comfortably underneath Abbi is standing there like she’s been training for this moment her entire life.

Chest out. Attitude activated. Absolutely no concern for the obvious size difference.

Abbi, meanwhile, usually looks at her like, Are we seriously doing this right now?

And that might be my favorite part. Stella isn’t bluffing. In her mind, this is a legitimate contest between two evenly matched opponents.

Ma’am.

You are several weight classes apart.

But confidence has never been Stella’s problem.

Fortunately, most of their “showdowns” are more sisterly nonsense than anything serious. A little attitude gets exchanged, boundaries are established, and eventually everybody remembers they live in the same house and should probably get along.

Does Stella win?

Depends who you ask.

According to basic physics, probably not.

According to Stella?
