Some people wake up on their day off and immediately start making plans. Errands need to be run. Projects need to get done. Maybe they’ll hit the gym, clean the house, or finally accomplish something productive.

Stella has chosen a different path.

Today’s agenda consists of absolutely nothing.

No responsibilities. No appointments. No places to be. Just finding the most comfortable spot in the house, getting settled, and seeing how little movement she can accomplish over the next several hours.

And the girl is committed to it.

Every once in a while she’ll lift her head to make sure she isn’t missing anything important. Maybe somebody opened the refrigerator. Maybe a snack bag made a suspicious noise. Maybe Dad walked toward the door and there’s a chance “we” are going somewhere.

Once she determines nothing requires her immediate attention, it’s right back to work.

And by work, I mean sleeping.

Honestly, Stella may have this whole life thing figured out better than the rest of us.

While everybody else is running around worrying about schedules, bills, work, and everything that needs to get done tomorrow, Stella is focused entirely on the present.

Warm spot. Comfortable blanket. Full belly. Mom and Dad nearby.

What else could a little dog possibly need?

Tomorrow she can get back to challenging Abbi, investigating whatever we’re eating, and occasionally making questionable decisions involving the carpet.

But today?

Today Stella is busy doing absolutely nothing.
